Miseries of Dentures

After more than a century, dental scientists have come up with digging screws in one's gums (implants) to hold the lower denture. Taking impression has remained just as miserable. Thus, dentistry has not move beyond Bronze Age.

When I mentioned to my dentist why not use robber to hold the dentures instead of glue, he seemed so lost and only said "Robber?!".

Yes, the part of denture, just below where the teeth are placed, can be robber-like, enhanced with lining kind of like fingerprints. When properly adjusted, there should not be any need for screws or glue.

Furthermore, there has to be a way to adjust the pressure of the robber part. Loosen to wear or remove, and tighten to hold them in place.

I also hate covering my pallet. The same technique can be applied to the upper dentures, thereby leaving the pallet exposed.

As for taking impressions, they have not figured out how to take a precise image of the gums. It seems like they are not aware of tiny cameras on what they shove in one's mouth filled with stuff to bite on. It is possible to take a precise 3-D picture of the gums and send it to a computer. Then, while the Dr. is making his round to maximize the use of his time, in another room a computer will print the dentures. This is not Sci-Fi for the age we are living in.

The only difference between dentistry at my childhood and now is the numbing of gums. That is great, but that was a very long time ago.
